BONUS of Beautiful Blackberries

The bedroom-into-kitchen cottage wall panel has now been fully finished with what-is-to-me a lovely, old bramble of blackberries. I was able to do a much better job in this final attempt at it because I actually grew the leaves used in the sculpture! I have blackberries growing in my real-life garden and it gave me a feel for how they look in season.

The berries are handmade, handplaced, and the leaves made stable with two coats on both sides of my trusty matte-medium before they are secured with my favorite fast-grab tacky glue by Aleene's.

This blackberry bush (or fruiting canes) sits next to the head of main character Rana's bed in the cottage, holds back a warm red dividing curtain resting between her bed and her kitchen. I like to imagine she can reach up and pluck a few off the shrub to nibble if she needs a snack in bed.

  1. I'm assuming one of your bugs might be found among the branches too! Lovely details as always.

    1. And as always, Jill, a fantastic idea! I will end the bug party with that! What a great way to transition to being inside the cottage for night scenes. You're going to have a writer's credit after all your sensational notes here!
