Snow Shore — Speed Post: 4 of 12

A hint of winter appears on the end of the overscale ground close up set. In building and finishing this set, it developed that the seasons shift from Spring>Summer>Autumn>Winter as the pink snail puppet travels across the landscape right to left. It was so exciting to shift the foliage and debris from season to season. Illegal fun. Even so, as this was the first snow built for any Halfland set, I had to improvise and invent the look.

I layered polyester fluff with glossed tissue paper and mica flakes just under the top surface. It crunched like real snow and was effortless to plant the dead grasses into it. I painted the transition from mud and dirt to be slow and subtle, akin to a shoreline between sea and sand, by adding texture of coffee and tea over the top of painted colors. The shot above on the right catches Winter in natural morning light.

The entire overscale set fully completed and gave me a gift in the process. See the next full post on it for the discovery made for ground that jolted the huge main set build to life!
