The Perfect Armature System

It took me a day to determine what parts were available in the Morezmore

Human Posable Armature (HPA) universe,

determine what very precise parts would be needed to construct the

armatures still needed, and an entire second day to place that order correctly.

Even though the website is top-drawer,

I relied on the Live Chat feature conducted by the owners, Nastsha and/or Nikolai, 

to find items I wasn't seeing and to answer my numerous noobescent questions.

The day after that, I raided my art stash and shed for divided plastic boxes that held random hardware, dumped those items into other bags or jars, and scrubbed the boxes silly with soap and hot water, getting everything ready for the moment all these luscious new armature parts will arrive.

It was so interesting going through this process of upgrading my capability of making genuinely improved armatures for my puppets! I call the process a "crucible". After spending a night carefully tracking down the parts needed from one of the Morezmore maps shown above, I finally was ready to get online the next morning to place my large order, I wasn't able to find the items by the name given on the map. The whole inventory became a tangled jumble to me of over 5k items and I couldn't navigate my way to find what I needed. I initiated a Live Chat and was told that "Well, stop motion isn't an easy craft." I was mad. "Hey, I'm trying to purchase YOUR products here, why not give the item numbers on the maps and/or make a starter page with everything all ready to add to the cart?!" I thought, but didn't say.

What I did say was, "This process of finding the right parts on the site is very time-consuming." All Miss Marple would say to that was, "Yes, it is."

HA! That made the hair on my neck bristle and I felt dismissed. I decided to persist in the process and just began to untangle the items one by one. After a couple hours, I was beginning to understand how the armatures were designed and how each piece fit in.

Asking numerous further questions, Miss Marple confided in me. She said, "We used to sell kits of all the armatures, know why we stopped?" "Fussy customers" I guessed. Not quite, she said.

She told me that they found over the years in the armature business that if they made the armatures and parts too easy for the public to order, stop motion would often be misunderstood as an easy pursuit. People would click and buy the kits and have no idea what to do with them, returning them angrily saying, "My Grandson Timmy can't play with this?!"

It finally dawned on me that having every aspect of this art be challenging to grasp and pursue was in fact the heart of stop motion as an endeavor. Nothing about is easy. Nothing. Even getting your armatures right requires going beyond the self into new techniques and learning. At least it does for me.

Below is everything I ordered from Miraculous Morezmore on my first order. I excitedly started last night playing with old random pieces here in the new ways I learned from the Morezmore designs and other Youtube videos. I feel like I've been away at a school for armatures, and see them entirely differently now. I feel empowered and suddenly able to craft excellent armatures for Halfland from any materials I'm given from now on.

Their prices are reasonable given the enormous savings over having professional custom armatures made. These will be MUCH easier than pulling apart old bike chains for compression plates and machining them with precision holes (like I was fixing to do after watching Edu Puertas do it!)

They'll give me finer hands than I was able to work out on my own with beads and wire and perform far better than my previous best efforts with wire body designs. I used funds earned from teaching ballet over the last few years for this important purchase.
