Fall Down

I think "Pomona" the Apple Head for Halloween is done shrinking up?

Made-a-little-eight-second-slide-show-about-it-goes-like-this: **Watch the fresh lady seem to transform before your eyes... and the apple does too** Thus will end our little side-show theater of shriveling sweetsop.

Managed to glue up some insulation foam as an underment for Tarn, the crow woman's bird-nature side. I propped up the rubber model as a guide-let.

"Fall down seven times, get up eight." --Japanese Proverb

Feeling a little dejected today. Nothing serious. Just discouraged over how fast my days go by without even slight progress on the project. Watching others growling along, getting in there, and making things happen for themselves. Wishing I could too. Knowing it is my choice. But not getting how I can choose into it when other things seem to need doing first. Not sure I can do what is required to exclude more than I do already. Confused at the moment. Waking up at dawn doesn't seem to influence my having more hours. It still gets dark about 15 minutes after dawn. Will this project require the exclusion of more than I'm willing to do in order for the project to get done? Or will a mitigating solution be for me to once again work to be satisfied with the most minimal of headway? Am I missing a gene? Hmm.

  1. Well, you've gotta go at your own pace...there are of course going to be plenty of uneventful days for all of us...the thing about rocketing along is the burnout factor.....whether you go for 30 days then crash for ten, or relax a couple days a week every week, it all balances out...you should be satisfied with any headway, minimal or no :)
Tarn is going to be a beautiful creature! And I love your applehead, looks fantastic, good enough to eat :::)

  2. Thanks, Uba. What you are saying is right I'm sure but I feel like I need to make HUGE progress EVERYDAY or it'll never get done. It's either my immaturity, inexperience, impatience, or all of the above.

I'll focus on not being so spoiled now.

  3. I love those quotes, those are going in my book of great quotes - thanks for that!

Yes don't let the lack of progress get you down - happens to us all. Progress seems to have it's own pace no matter what our intentions.

I have this quotation posted by my work area - I don't remember where I got it and you may have seen it before, but I will share it here since it seems appropriate.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.

Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.

Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

So buck up, and carry on soldier!

You know where you are going, just put one foot in front of the other and you WILL get there.

May your days be filled with persistence. :-)

  4. Absolutely frickin' AWESOME, Mark!!

That's quote really says it all, going up on my wall too!
    Thanks so much!!

My whores are moanin' so it makes everything intense and dramatic for me. I'd find SOMETHING to be disgruntled over even if in paradise I think.

    Persistense. That's it, brother!

  5. Wow Mark, that really IS excellent!! I've never heard it before, but I love it.

Shelley (your whores are moanin'.... first I freaked out, then did a double take and almost choked laughing!). I can't add anything as supportive as what mark and Jeff just said, not without pretty much parroting them, so I;ll offer a bit of humor.

Reminds me of something my dad used to say when someone was annoying him:

"Stick your head in a bucket of water three times and only pull it out twice!"

    Nyuk nyuk nyuk!

  6. I knew you'd laugh at that Brentian joke, Mike. Nyuk nyuk.

  7. Yes, I often have to laugh at my own humor, or no one does. Then it feels neglected and dejected. And that's a terrible way for a humor to feel. So I buy it an ice cream and take it to the zoo or something.

Hey, this is weird... now all your Blogger pics are working fine, but the Photobucket ones arent!

    Keep going Shelley.

It is hard to maintain focus everyday, so you are allowed to rest once in a while. We don't want you to burn yourself out!

Don't beat yourself up about it, think of it as a creative recharge day, rather than an unproductive one.

  9. This is great encouragement, Phil! I will take it to heart. It's especially meaningful coming from an animator I consider to be among the finest in the world. And one who gets so much actually DONE!!!

By the way, big congratulations on wrapping your latest live action short, Tree

  14. That ith tho thweet, Mike, thankx! I'm actually fine. I was all set to battle a trip to hell or something when ---nothin'. First time I "missed an appointment"--if you know what I mean. Went to a doctor's appointment today and he gave me a pregger test to make sure I weren't none. I taint. Didn't think so--too ol' now. So it's likely just my change of life fixin' to happen one day. Sigh. My whores still moan and wail and make me intense, difficult, and/or blue as usual. When I do finally stop with my ladies troubles, I will miss the totally *ok* flops on the couch with treats and movies, as that was the only time it was ok with me to do that. I still do that--but it isn't *ok*. See?

  15. You need to MAKE it OK! I think you deserve it, after all, you've been a good girl for a long time now (a lifetime). Just because the meaningless punishment is going away don't take away the rewards too! Why are people so mean to themselves and everyone around them like that? There's nothing more cruel than a self-effacing person. As the Beatles said, "Don't you know that it's the fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder?" Ok... slightly different, but similar.

  16. Ah, but how to do that. You are totally correct, of course. I'm just not built for being ok with not being outwardly "productive". Now, I have slothed a great deal but mostly as a naughtiness or indulgence that would be better served by doing other obligations. The exceptions are when the abject pain of my cramps forced my lying down as I could do nothing else despite my strongest will and or an illness, which I am happy to report are so infrequent the last time I recall having even as much as a cold was 8 years ago.

When I read someone's blog and they are being hard on themselves for not doing enough I want to shout at them to enjoy the moment and not add so much unnecessary hardship by attaching self-judgment onto their choice to rest. I swear I do feel that way. But-- writing these comments back and forth with you have shown me that I'd doing the same foolhardy foolish folly, without knowing how to change how I feel. Wild!
